Designer Nanu Pandit’s The Portrayal of Thai Pride


The creative design is inspired by Thailand, a wondrous kingdom, featuring Buddhist temples, tropical beaches, and opulent royal palaces.

NANU PANDIT | THE PORTRAYAL OF THAI PRIDE

The head gear of the design is inspired from their national emblem “Phra khrut pha” Garuda (Krut) which is half man half bird. The necklace is inspired from the neck-piece of national dancer made up of the velvet. The blouse is made of orange apple silk.

The color represents the dress of the Thai Buddhist monk. The lower part is called Sampat /Phanung, a traditional wear of Thai women. It is made from brocade fabric. The wings of the ”Phra khrut pha” is attached in the front hip area of Sampat.

The Sabai is a traditional shawl draped like a sari and is also made from brocade. “WAT ARUN” (Temple of Dawn) is carried on the left hand by the model which is made from metal.
