Sushil Sitaula & Nancy Khadka during the script worship ceremony of ‘Akshara’
Filming of the Nepali feature film ‘Akshara’ has officially begun in Kathmandu. The movie marks the directorial debut of Binay Raj Paudel, who has previously worked as an assistant director in several Nepali films over the years.
The production team started filming on Monday after completing the script worship ceremony at the famous Guhyeshwari Temple in Kathmandu a few days earlier. According to the makers, the film’s shooting schedule has been planned for one month.
Director Binay Raj Poudel shared that the team entered production only after completing detailed preparation and workshops with the cast. He said the screenplay and dialogues were carefully developed based on the story’s emotional and dramatic demands.
“We worked hard on the script and character preparation before going on the floor. The actors were trained through workshops so they could fully understand their roles. We believe the audience will connect deeply with the film,” said Poudel.
Produced under the banner of Kshit Babu Production House, the film features an ensemble cast including Sushil Sitaula, Nancy Khadka, Sushil Pokharel, Pushkar Raut, Rista Adhikari, Anshu Maharjan, Geeta Adhikari, Birendra Kushwaha, and Srijana Adhikari. Child actors Ronak Khadka and Preesa Dhungana are also part of the film.
The executive producer of the movie is Suraj Thapakaji, while Ugrasen Dhungana and Sugrasen Dhungana are producing the project. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Abhimanyu Nirabi. The film’s songs will feature lyrics by Surendra Rana, while the music composition is handled by Karnaraj Giri.
Cinematography is being done by Dipen Basnyat. Ramji Lamichhane is handling choreography, and the action direction is led by Shankar Maharjan. Makeup is managed by Madan Nyaupane, costume design by Prarthana Bhattarai, and production management by Suman Kafle.
The poster design of the movie has been created by Rakesh Dahal. The film will be distributed by Deepak Dangal through National Cine Group Nepal. Dibas Bohara is serving as the chief assistant director, while Manoj Bohara is working as assistant director.
After years of working behind the scenes in the Nepali film industry, Binay Raj Poudel is now stepping into independent direction through ‘Akshara’, making the project an important milestone in his filmmaking journey.
