Capturing the spirit of Kukur Tihar: Nepal Tourism Board’s reel contest invites creators to celebrate the bond between people and dogs, with a prize of NPR 100,000.
Your Kukur Tihar Reel Could Win Rs 100,000 Prize
Your Kukur Tihar video could earn you a Rs 100,000 prize. Nepal Tourism Board has announced the Kukur Tihar Reel Contest 2026, inviting creators to capture the festival’s spirit and the bond between people and dogs. Entries close on November 21, 2026.
The competition encourages original storytelling around one of Nepal’s distinctive festival traditions. Creators can capture dogs receiving tika and marigold garlands, or share everyday moments that reflect their love, loyalty and companionship.
Kukur Tihar honours dogs as part of Nepal’s Tihar celebrations. The contest offers a way to introduce this tradition to international audiences through short videos.
How to Enter Nepal’s Kukur Tihar Reel Contest
Participants must create an original, engaging Kukur Tihar-themed reel and publish it on their own Instagram or Facebook account.
Each post must include both #NepalFestival and #KukurTihar. Instagram users must tag @nepaltourism, while Facebook users must tag Nepal Tourism Board’s official page.
After posting, participants must email their video along with an accessible Google Drive link to photonepal@ntb.org.np. The Drive permissions must allow the organiser to both view and download the video.
Posting a reel on social media alone does not complete the submission process. Creators must also send their entry by email before the deadline.
English Subtitles or Voice-over Required
The competition requires reels in English. Creators can meet this requirement by including English subtitles or English narration or voice-over.
Each entry must be an original creation that reflects the spirit of Kukur Tihar through creative storytelling.
Video Usage Terms
Participants should also review the organiser’s usage terms. Nepal Tourism Board reserves the right to use all submitted reels for promotional, publicity, marketing and digital communication purposes across its platforms and media channels.
This condition applies to all submitted videos, rather than only prize-winning entries.
The announced prize is NPR 100,000. Creators have until November 21, 2026, to publish their reels and complete the email submission.
