Ashirwad B Chhetri and Prashamsha Rayamajhi in “Jaale Rumal,” the wedding song from Chiranjibi Bhawa.
A wedding celebration takes an unexpected turn in “Jaale Rumal,” the newly released song from the Nepali film Chiranjibi Bhawa. Featuring Ashirwad B Chhetri and Prashamsha Rayamajhi in a wedding setting, the video brings the film’s characters together for music, dancing and playful exchanges before its closing moments introduce a hint of suspense.
Released on YouTube, the song is also titled “Ke Ta Maya.” Rachana Rimal, Ram Chandra Kafle and Babul Giri provide the vocals, with lyrics by the film’s director, Deepak Prasad Acharya. Giri has also composed, arranged, mixed and mastered the track.
Rooted in Nepali folk music, “Jaale Rumal” uses a question-and-answer singing style associated with dohori. Its playful exchanges between a young man and woman, familiar expressions and recurring hook give the song a lively wedding atmosphere.
The video places Ashirwad and Prashamsha at the centre of the celebrations, while the wider ensemble joins the festivities. Beyond introducing a dance number, the sequence offers a glimpse of the family ties connecting the film’s characters.
Choreographed by Gamvir Bista, the video builds around the wedding gathering before shifting its mood near the end. A sudden incident interrupts the celebrations, leaving a question about what follows in the film.
Chiranjibi Bhawa stars Hari Bansha Acharya, Ashirwad B Chhetri and Prashamsha Rayamajhi in lead roles. Acharya plays a character known as “Chiranjibi Baje.”
The ensemble also includes Karishma Manandhar, Mishri Thapa, Kamalmani Nepal, Abhay Baral, Suman Karki, Suwarna Thapa, Saroj Aryal, Harish Niraula, Geeta Adhikari and Sushmita Kunwar.
Directed by Deepak Prasad Acharya, popularly known as “Kaku,” the social drama explores relationships and differences in thinking between two generations. The song’s focus on a family gathering offers an early look at that setting.
Kumar Kattel developed the story, with writing by Sabin Adhikari and Basanta Neupane. Umesh Kumar Baral and Chiran KC are the producers, while Gajit Bista and Shailesh Khatri serve as executive producers. The film features cinematography by Shivaram Shrestha and editing by Mitra D Gurung.
Chiranjibi Bhawa is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 15, 2027, coinciding with Magh 1 and the Maghe Sankranti festival.
