Awarapan 2 Brings Back Emraan Hashmi’s Iconic Gangster Avatar.
Bollywood’s ‘serial kisser’ turned versatile actor Emraan Hashmi is making headlines once again, this time with the much awaited sequel to his cult classic Awarapan (2007). After nearly 18 years, the actor is set to return in his unforgettable gangster look with Awarapan 2, which has already gone on floors in Bangkok.
The sequel pairs Emraan with Disha Patani in the lead roles. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, known for Filmistaan and Jawaani Jaaneman, the film promises a gripping mix of action, emotion, and soulful music hallmarks of the original.
Released in 2007, Awarapan may not have been a major box office success, but it earned cult status over time. Songs like Tera Mera Rishta and Toh Phir Aao, sung by Mustafa Zahid, continue to dominate playlists even today, cementing the film’s emotional legacy.
Interestingly, the original Awarapan was an uncredited remake of the South Korean film A Bittersweet Life, with Emraan playing a brooding gangster torn between crime and love. The sequel is expected to carry forward that emotional depth while catering to today’s audience with modern storytelling.
Currently, Emraan is basking in the success of his Telugu outing They Call Him OG with Pawan Kalyan, which is performing strongly at the box office. With Awarapan 2, the actor gifts his loyal fans a nostalgic return while also reintroducing one of his most acclaimed characters to a new generation.
