Nepal’s Yuki ‘The Gurkha’ Angdembe Defeats China’s Buhuogubu, Record Moves to 9–3
Nepali MMA fighter Yuki “The Gurkha” Angdembe has secured another impressive international victory, defeating China’s Buhuogubu “The Yi Eagle” by unanimous decision at Jue Cheng King (JCK) Fight Night 123 in Lüliang, China.
Angdembe controlled much of the three-round bantamweight contest with his grappling and wrestling, with all three judges scoring the fight 30–27 in his favour. The victory is his third consecutive professional win and improves his MMA record to 9 wins and 3 losses from 12 professional fights.
The fight took place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Lüliang, Shanxi province, with Angdembe looking to extend the momentum he had built through victories earlier in the year.
Angdembe takes control with grappling
The opening round began with both fighters exchanging kicks and punches as they tested each other on the feet. Angdembe did not immediately turn to one of his biggest strengths. It was during the closing stages of the first round that “The Gurkha” began imposing his grappling game, changing the direction of the contest.
That strategy became even more evident in the second round. Angdembe used his wrestling to take the Chinese fighter down and control the action on the ground. He pushed for opportunities to finish the contest, while also finding success with punches as he maintained the pressure.
Buhuogubu, however, proved difficult to put away. The experienced Chinese bantamweight defended Angdembe’s submission and finishing attempts and stayed competitive enough to take the fight into the final five minutes.
Respect before another hard-fought final round
There was a notable moment of sportsmanship as the third round began, with Angdembe and Buhuogubu embracing before returning to battle. Once the action resumed, the contest again moved to the ground.
Angdembe continued to find the stronger positions during the grappling exchanges and maintained the advantage as the final round progressed.
In his corner was Zack “Bahadur” Bennett, Angdembe’s teammate at Bali-based Soma Fight Club, who continued encouraging the Nepali fighter throughout the contest.
With Angdembe having controlled key portions of all three rounds, the fight went to the judges after the full 15 minutes.
There was no split in opinion. All three judges awarded the fight to Angdembe, scoring every round in the Nepali fighter’s favour for a unanimous 30–27 decision.
Nepali flag and rudraksha after victory
Angdembe marked the victory with a celebration that visibly represented his Nepali identity.
After the decision was announced, “The Gurkha” celebrated draped in the Nepali national flag and wearing a rudraksha mala.
Bennett joined him wearing a waistcoat made with Nepali dhaka fabric, creating a distinctly Nepali scene inside the Chinese MMA venue after the victory.
The images added another memorable chapter to Angdembe’s international journey, with the fighter continuing to carry Nepali symbols with him as his career progresses overseas.
Three consecutive wins for ‘The Gurkha’
The victory in China extends an impressive run for Angdembe. He entered JCK Fight Night 123 on the back of two consecutive wins, having defeated Indonesia’s Yacub Christ Nugroho at Soma Fight Series and India’s Mandeep Prajapati at Matrix Fight Night 18 earlier in 2026. Before Saturday’s contest, Angdembe held an 8–3 professional record.
Buhuogubu entered the fight with significantly more professional experience, carrying a 10–7 record and competing regularly under the JCK banner.
But Angdembe’s wrestling and grappling proved decisive over three rounds. The victory now gives him three consecutive professional wins and takes his overall record to 9–3.
From Damak to the international MMA circuit
Born in Damak, Nepal, and raised in the United Kingdom, Angdembe has spent around five years developing his skills at Soma Fight Club in Bali, Indonesia.
He has competed internationally across promotions including Cage Warriors, BRAVE CF, Matrix Fight Night, Eternal MMA, Nepal Warriors Championship and Soma Fight Series.
Angdembe is also closely connected with fellow Nepali MMA standout Rabindra Dhant. He was the fighter who introduced Dhant to Soma Fight Club, where both have developed under the Bali-based team.
Known particularly for his wrestling and grappling, Angdembe has increasingly combined those strengths with effective striking as his professional career has developed.
That combination was on display against Buhuogubu. Rather than chasing an early finish against an experienced opponent, Angdembe controlled the fight across the full three rounds and secured a clear decision on the judges’ scorecards.
With victories over Nugroho, Prajapati and now Buhuogubu, Yuki “The Gurkha” Angdembe has won all three of his professional fights in 2026, strengthening his position as one of Nepal’s most prominent fighters competing on the international MMA circuit.
