Fashion designer Prabal Gurung’s latest offering, a T-shirt designed for the American presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s made for History fundraiser, has been sold out within days of its official launch.
Gurung’s $45 a piece crimson t-shirts with floral print have gone out of stock within days they were made available on Clinton campaign’s online store. The store sells Clinton’s election merchandise from apparels, buttons to accessories and home-wares.
The American fashion designer of Nepali Origin had made an announcement to endorse Clinton following her nomination. With his latest design, Prabal joined the list of designers—including Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, and Joseph Altuzarra—who also rolled out their designs endorsing Clinton for the election.
In a recent interview with the Fast Company magazine, Gurung made his decision to support Clinton clear. “I wanted to do something. I had been in touch with her team and they asked me to contribute to the Made for History T-shirt collection. It was an honor. What I realized was that as a fashion designer, I had an audience and followers, and I wanted to make sure that I was using this platform for something good that is bigger than me,” he said.
Gurung, one of the leading designers in the world today, launched his brand, named Prabal Gurung, in 2009 and there has been no turning back for the 37-year old designer. His designs have been favored by a host of celebrities, including US First Lady Michelle Obama, talk-show giant Oprah Winfrey, Amal Clooney, and most recently, Queen Rania of Jordan.
