Fashion Group International of Dallas is set to acknowledge one of the most successful world famous Fashion Designer Prabal Gurung for his accomplishment in the fashion industry. Gurung will be presented with the accolade at Fashion Industry Gallery during FGI Dallas’ annual Night of Stars Gala on November 13, 2015.
The Dallas chapter of Fashion Group International selected the designer for the Career Achievement in Fashion Award for his work, designs and influence in the fashion industry as well as his active participation in relief efforts during the Nepal earthquake through Shikshya Foundation Nepal. Gurung is a co-founder, board member and ambassador at Shikshya Foundation Nepal which works to provide quality education to under privileged children.
Gurung’s namesake label is available in more than 20 countries and his creation regularly graces the pages of most popular fashion magazines. He is been one of the most successful fashion designer so far being the recipient of Fashion Institute of Technology’s Best Designer Award; 2010 Ecco Domani Fund Award; 2011 CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear; business people for the (CFDA Fashion Incubator) for 2010-2012 and a 2013 collection for Target. He’s been the favorite wardrobe designer for the world famous high profile women that includes First Lady Michelle Obama, The Duchess of Cambridge, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Hudson, Scarlett Johansson, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana, Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra as the most notable ones.
Proceeds from the Night of Stars event benefit scholarships for fashion students. Last year, FGI Dallas awarded more than $45,000 in cash and prizes. For 2014, the FGI of Dallas presented the Career Achievement in Fashion Award to designer Zac Posen.
