New Guinness World Record has been registered for Nepal, after a successful attempt at the highest altitude fashion show. The first ever The Mount Everest Fashion Runway showcased on 26th of January 2020. The fashion show was held at 5340 meters (17515 ft.) elevation at KalaPathhar, Nepal.
The show was been organized by RB Diamonds, KASA Style in support of Nepal Tourism Board and Visit Nepal2020 Campaign. The key mission of showcasing the fashion show in the highest altitude was to spread awareness about climate the change, promote sustainable fashion and also to deliver the message to the World that Nepal is the destination for all activities promoting Visit Nepal Year 2020.
The designs, patterns and the materials used during the fashion show were all natural, organic and all Nepali product lines from KASA. The clothing line was made of Nepali Pashmina, Felt and Yak Wool ideal for winter wear. The show also had the beautiful display of jewelries reflecting Nepali culture and was been created and designed by RB Diamonds. The exclusive Kainite stone jewelries were the highlight of the show.
The Mount Everest Fashion Runway was been performed by the models from Nepal, Italy, Finland, Zambia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Singapore. Among them were Arick Bikram Thapa, Smriti Nepal, Miss Nepal International 2018 Ronali Amatya, Miss Nepal Universe 2018 Manita Devkota from Nepal, Natasha Borozan, Alessandro Egger, Madalina Doroftei, Manuel Scrima from Italy, Paula Maria Potry from Finland, Alfirda Alifia from Indonesia, Miss Universe Singapore 2018 Zahra Khanum, Miss Universe Zambia 2018 Melba Emmanuelah Shakabozha and The reigning Miss Universe Sri Lanka Ornella Gunasekara.
Prior to the final showcase of the event the team of 48 people started their trek from Lukla on 18th of January 2020 towards Kala Patthar. Besides the models, the team had a video crew, makeup artists, medics, the clothing and jewelry designers, and the organizers themselves.
Besides the Guinness World Records title attempt, the entire journey of the models till the Everest Base Camp route was been visualized as a reality show which would be telecasted in MTV USA & Canada during April/May 2020. All the members of the team took pledge not to use any products that causes Climate change and will save up to 8000 liters of water during their journey. For this the team used Cleansta waterless bath and shampoo for their daily routine hygiene.
The show was been specially been attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation- Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Officiating CEO of Nepal Tourism Board- Nandini Lahe Thapa, Chairman of RB Diamonds- Ramesh Maharjan. Ms. Nandini Thapa, Ms. Aashmi Rana were the witnesses along with Pilot Lt. Col Pratap Bohara as technical witness for the official adjudicator of Guinness World Records.
