India’s Manushi Chhillar is New Miss World. The grand coronation of 67th edition of Miss World pageant has come to end finalizing Indian beauty Manushi Chhillar as Miss World 2017

By Rojin Shakya – The grand coronation of 67th edition of Miss World pageant has come to end finalizing Indian beauty Manushi Chhillar as Miss World 2017. The grand finale that unfolded in Sanya City Arena, China on Saturday 18th of November 2017, Manushi left behind hundred and seventeen national beauty queens from different corners of the globe to clinch the award of Miss World 2017 where she was also the winner for Beauty with a purpose award sharing the category with the ladies from Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and South Africa.

The 21 years of age Manushi hails from Haryana, earlier this year won the Femina Miss India 2017. Born to doctor parents, Chhillar studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.

Winning Miss World 2017, Manushi became 6th Indian woman to succeed at Miss World pageant. Earlier Reita Faria in 1966, Aishwarya Rai in 1994, Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mukhiin 1999 and Priyanka Chopra in 2000 earned the Miss World crown for India.

Miss World 2017 finale saw Andrea Meza from Mexico as first runner-up while Stephanie Hill from England completed the event as second runner-up. Regarding Miss Nepal 2017 Nikita Chandak, she ended Miss World 2017 being till top 40, where she earned this position topping group 3 in head to head challenge. Other than this Nikita was placed at top 20 in Beauty with a purpose category while in top model competition she made till top 30. Likewise Nikita was in top 5 in People’s choice award and at top 9 in Multimedia category.

The show began with a grand opening number where the contestants vying for the Miss World crown entertained the audience with an enchanting dance number. Then the stage was been taken over by confirmed quarter finalists then after the numbers were trimmed to top fifteen and then to top ten semi finalists. Then the contestants were further narrowed down to Top 5 finalists where England, France, India, Kenya and Mexico made to the final cut.

This year at the Miss World pageant Multimedia Award was won by Enkhjin Tseveendash from Mongolia and Talent award was grabbed by Michela Galea from Malta. Likewise Top Model Competition was won by Nigerian beauty Ugochi Ihezue while sports challenge was topped by Miss Dominican Republic Aletxa Mueses.
