IIFT Nepal’s Fashion Design Students Showcase Imagination and Creativity in Dress to Impress Season 8

In an extraordinary display of talent and creativity, a group of 133 fashion design students from IIFT Nepal captivated audiences at Dress to Impress season 8. The runway was transformed into a vibrant showcase of innovation as the students, divided into four groups, brought their unique visions to life under assigned themes: “Best Out of Waste,” “Four Seasons,” “Five Elements,” and “Bold Accessories.”

The theme “Best Out of Waste” saw the designers breathe new life into discarded materials and fabrics through the principles of recycling and upcycling. Anjuman Bano’s exceptional creation earned her the well-deserved title of winner in this category. Meanwhile, the theme “Four Seasons” inspired the students to explore the colors and design details associated with the seasons Basanta, Grishma, Barkha, and Shishir. Mamata Rai’s remarkable design secured her victory in this theme.

Explorations based on the five elements of fire, water, earth, air, and space were the focus of the theme aptly named “Five Elements.” Design details featuring vibrant colors like yellow, blue, and earthy tones took center stage, and Karuna Aryal emerged as the deserving winner in this category. Lastly, the “Bold Accessories and Trims” theme highlighted the role of accessories in complementing dresses. Oversized hats, embroidered bags, and extra-large sunglasses were among the standout features. Damayanti Adhikari’s exceptional work earned her the top spot in this category.

The winners of each theme were honored with a trophy, sash, gift hampers, and an encouraging token of appreciation worth NPR 15,000 each. The prestigious event took place at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi, Kathmandu, and was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, the vice-chancellor of Kathmandu University. The mesmerizing choreography was skillfully executed by Bipana Thapa, adding to the overall allure of the show.
