NCFT’s 19th Graduation Fashion Show: Anukalpit Prabhanam – A Fusion of Culture, Creativity, and Glamour

The 19th graduation fashion show of Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT), titled Anukalpit Prabhanam, was a resounding success, capturing the essence of creativity, innovation, and style. Held on March 28, 2025, at The Plaza Nepal, Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, the event was a visual spectacle that took the audience on an unforgettable journey through nine distinct collections, each representing the work of 88 talented graduating fashion designers.

The show was a harmonious blend of fashion, art, and culture, offering fresh perspectives on design and stagecraft. Each collection unveiled a unique narrative that combined tradition with modernity, showcasing the students’ impressive creative flair and their ability to push boundaries.

The highlight of the evening was the stunning runway presentation of each designer’s masterpiece. As models graced the runway, adorned in the creations of the graduating designers, the audience was spellbound by the intricate detailing, innovation, and craftsmanship that went into each piece.

The event was presented in nine phases, with each segment showcasing a collection inspired by distinct themes. These included Divyakanta, Mimamsa, Himalayan Euphony, Samsara, Nepalese Nirvana, Prarambhantika, Hiraeth of Weaves, Suramya Pahiran, and Sovereign Luxe, with each collection reflecting the students’ vision and connection to their cultural heritage.

Divyakanta was inspired by Queen Maya Devi’s divine femininity, blending luxurious silk with intricate embroidery to create a harmonious palette that evoked grace, love, and compassion. The collection symbolized the balance between modernity and tradition, paying homage to historical icons.

Mimamsa drew inspiration from the vibrant Jatras of Kathmandu Valley, incorporating luxurious fabrics like silk, velvet, and linen with rich hues and intricate Newar motifs. This collection captured the festival’s spiritual energy and cultural essence, beautifully merging the past with the present.

Himalayan Euphony explored the serene beauty and spirituality of the Himalayas through sustainable hemp dresses, wool overlays, and Tibetan ornaments. This collection embodied the harmonious coexistence of nature, culture, and spirituality that defines the Himalayas.

Samsara symbolized the endless cycle of life through chakra-inspired designs and colors. Using Nepali khadi fabric, the collection incorporated balance, transformation, and interconnectedness through capes, corsets, and dresses that highlighted spiritual depth and connection.

Nepalese Nirvana seamlessly fused Nepal’s architectural heritage with contemporary fashion. Layered silhouettes, brocade draping, sacred geometry, and striking headgear paid tribute to Nepal’s royal architecture while redefining modern elegance with vibrant hues.

Prarambhantika represented the transformative journey of Maa Kali, blending destruction and creation through corsets, layered silhouettes, and goddess-inspired hues. This collection beautifully merged divine symbolism with modern elegance, embodying strength and power.

Hiraeth of Weaves honored Nepal’s bamboo craftsmanship by merging traditional and modern design elements. Structured yet fluid silhouettes evoked the resilience of the craft, while the collection’s intricate detailing reflected the deep cultural heritage and a longing to preserve the past.

Suramya Pahiran revived Banarasi and Nepali silk through repurposed sarees, blending tradition with contemporary design. The collection featured signature long outers, rich textures, and vibrant hues, creating a sustainable, elegant, and opulent look ideal for weddings.

Sovereign Luxe celebrated Nepal’s royal heritage, incorporating Dhaka fabric in gowns and sherwanis adorned with crystals, lace, and subtle embroidery. The collection epitomized regal opulence and blended tradition with modern luxury for a majestic wedding look.

Each collection showcased not only the talent of the designers but also their ability to translate cultural heritage into contemporary fashion. The use of luxurious fabrics, intricate embellishments, and masterful tailoring resulted in creations that were both modern and timeless. The highlight of each collection was the creation of a “masterpiece”—a standout piece that captured the essence of the collection and served as a visual representation of the designer’s creative journey.
