Anjali Lama from Nepali Runway to Lakme Fashion week 2017


Rojin Shakya:- Nepal’s first transgender runway model, Anjali Lama is been confirmed as the face to flaunt exclusive designer dresses for Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017. Lama faced the audition session in Delhi on December 14 before she was shortlisted to walk the ramp for the fashion week along with four other new faces – Divya Jadhav, Aishwarya Sheoran, Sandra Cionelly, and Tatiana Polischcuk. Lakme Fashion Week’s Summer/Resort 2017 edition is scheduled to take place from February 1 to 5 at Jio Garden, Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

With multiple experiences in the runway modeling, from graduation show of Namuna College of Fashion Technology to the high profile runway shows like Trendsetters, Timeless Paragon Classic Diamond Jewelry show, Designer’s Runway, Couture Nepal fashion show, EnVogue  and many others, Anjali has always been able to create a sensational presence with her graceful walk full of confidence and attitude.

Anjali blessed with slim, toned and tall figured body has improved and improvised her style sense in each of her runway appearance and in the present scene she is been able to deliver her own signature style of glam factor. Also been the face of Panache Runway, an exclusive outlet of Bollywood fame designer Vishaal Kapoor, Anjali Lama has successfully graced the cover page of magazines like Wave, WOW, Navyaata, M&S, MUSE, ECS Friday etc. . Her journey in the glamour sector took off with her participation in the ‘Miss Pink’ pageant back in 2007. She then became the part of an international transgender beauty pageant held in Bangkok. After then she went through a professional runway modeling training.

Lama, who was born in Nuwakot district as a boy and was named Nabin Wabia. She underwent a sex change operation and became a woman once she moved to Kathmandu for higher studies. Anjali was been featured as ‘The Wonder Woman’ in WAVE magazine. She has also been the subject of a documentary called Anjali-Living Inside, Someone Else’s Skin. The fifty minute long Documentary film was been directed by Mohan Rai.
