Nominations under different categories for Academy Oscars Awards were made public on Thursday. Film director J.J. Abrams, artist of ‘Into the Woods’ Chris Pine and representative of Oscar AwardsSeril Bun Esaksa jointly made public the nomination list.
American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash have been nominated for ‘Best Picture’.
There will be battle for ‘Best Actor’ among Steve Carell (Fox catcher), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Michael Keaton (Birdman) and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything).
Likewise, Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Reese Witherspoon (Wild) have been nominated for ‘Best Actress’.
Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman), Richard Linklater (Boyhood), Bennett Miller (Fox catcher), Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) are in the race to become ‘Best Director’.
Under ‘Best Original Screenplay’, Birdman, Boyhood, Fox catcher. The Grand Budapest Hotel and Night crawler have been nominated, while, American Sniper, The Imitation Game, Inherent Vice, The Theory of Everything and Whiplash have been nominated for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’.
Also, under ‘Best Foreign Film’ category, Ida (Poland), Leviathan (Russia), Tangerines (Estonia), Timbuktu (Mauritania) and Wild Tales (Argentina). Likewise, under ‘Best Animation’, Big Hero 6, The Box trolls, how to Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea, The Tale of Princess Kaguya have been nominated.
The Oscars Awards will be distributed on February 22.
