Urmila Lama Yonjan crowned as Miss Tamang 2016
The making of Miss Tamang 2016 has completed finalizing Urmila Lama Yonjan as the winner of new edition of the pageant. Urmila was also successful at personality awards. The event showcased at the open arena of Tundikhel on 10th of February 2016 saw thirty one young Tamang women displaying their confidence, personality and cultural richness through the competition. The event organized by Nepal Tamang Art and Culture center took off with the welcome dance performance and went through self introduction round, written and oral question answer session and finally ended with the selection of the winner.
The event choreographed by Rojin Shakya went musical through the performances of various artists from Tamang community. In the competition Samjhana Thokar was declared as first runner-ups while Shikchhya Yonjan completed as second runner-ups. Kabita Lama Lopchan was positioned as forth runner-ups.
Unfortunately for the behavior of the winner in the third runner-ups position, organizer has suspended the category. The ethnic beauty pageant Miss Tamang is been focused to the Young women of Tamang community and promotion of different aspects of art, culture and tradition of related community and is being organized since 2006 and this year it is 9th edition of the event.
