After months of mysterious Nepal visits, heritage photographs and dance teasers, Indian dancer and choreographer Shakti Mohan has finally unveiled the complete story. Her new ‘Dance Across The World’ Nepal episode takes viewers from Nepali folk dance and Patan’s historic courtyards to the Trishuli River, momo-making and the Himalayas.
Indian dance sensation Shakti Mohan has released one of her most Nepal-focused projects yet, turning her months-long journey through the country into a colourful celebration of dance, culture, food, adventure and people.
Titled “Nepal Like You’ve Never Seen Before,” the Nepal special is Episode 5 of Dance Across The World Season 2 and is now available online.

For Glamour Nepal readers, the release also solves a mystery that has been unfolding for nearly three months.
What began with photographs of Shakti wearing traditional Nepali attire in Bandipur gradually developed into a trail of clues involving domestic travel, Patan Durbar Square, Nepali folk dance and repeated references to Dance Across The World. Now those seemingly separate moments can be seen as parts of one larger Nepal story.
Shakti Mohan Learns Chudka Dance in Nepal
Dance naturally sits at the heart of the episode. Early in the journey, Shakti learns Chudka dance, giving audiences a closer look at one of the cultural traditions she encountered while travelling through Nepal.
For a dancer whose career has been built around contemporary performance, choreography and television dance, the sequence is particularly interesting because she approaches the traditional form as a learner rather than simply arriving to perform.
That spirit reflects the larger idea behind Dance Across The World: travelling beyond familiar stages and connecting with places through their own movement traditions.
A glimpse of this side of the project had already surfaced before the episode’s release. Glamour Nepal reported on August 9 that Shakti had been filmed practising Nepali folk-dance steps alongside a local artist, offering one of the clearest indications yet that Nepal’s traditional dance culture would play an important role in the programme.
Patan Durbar Square Becomes Part of Her Dance-and-Travel Story
The episode then brings viewers into Patan Durbar Square, one of the most visually striking locations featured during Shakti’s Nepal journey.
The historic square is part of the UNESCO-listed Kathmandu Valley World Heritage property, which includes seven monument zones representing the Valley’s extraordinary artistic, architectural and religious heritage.
Shakti had already created considerable curiosity around Patan in July when she shared a series of photographs wearing a vivid red outfit against its brick courtyards, carved wooden architecture and historic monuments.
At the time, Glamour Nepal questioned whether the elaborate heritage imagery was connected to a larger project. Her use of hashtags including #DanceAcrossTheWorld and #GlobalDanceTales made the possibility increasingly difficult to ignore.
The Nepal episode now provides the missing context. Patan was not simply the setting for an attractive celebrity photo shoot; it formed part of the visual and cultural journey being created for Dance Across The World.
From Heritage Streets to Kayaking on the Trishuli
Shakti’s Nepal adventure does not remain confined to dance studios and historic squares.
The programme shifts dramatically into adventure as she goes kayaking on the Trishuli River, introducing another side of Nepal to her international audience. It is an important contrast.
International images of Nepal are still frequently dominated by Everest, trekking and mountain landscapes. Shakti’s episode broadens that picture by moving between cultural heritage, river adventure, local food and performing arts.
That combination gives the programme a stronger travel dimension while showing how dramatically experiences can change within a relatively compact country.
Shakti Tries Her Hand at Making Momos
There is also an essential Nepal experience that could hardly be left out: momos. Instead of merely sitting down to eat Nepal’s hugely popular dumplings, Shakti enters the kitchen and tries preparing them herself.

Instead of presenting Nepal solely as the land of the world’s highest mountain, the episode first introduces dance, architecture, food, rivers and cultural encounters before bringing the Himalayas into the narrative.
It creates a broader portrait of Nepal, one built not around a single attraction but around multiple experiences.

In her message accompanying the episode, Shakti reflects on being surprised by the scale of Nepal’s cultural diversity.
Nepal’s 2021 National Population and Housing Census recorded 142 caste and ethnic groups and 124 mother tongues, figures that underline how many cultural identities exist within the country despite its relatively small geographical size.
That diversity becomes especially relevant in an episode centred on dance.
Traditional dance forms in Nepal are closely connected to different communities, festivals, regions, rituals and social traditions, making it almost impossible for one programme to represent the country’s entire dance landscape.
Instead, Shakti’s journey functions as an introduction, a window into a much larger cultural world.
Later in the episode, she watches a selection of Nepali cultural dance forms, bringing the central theme of the series back into focus.
The Nepal Story Actually Began in Bandipur
For followers of Shakti Mohan and readers who have been following Glamour Nepal’s coverage, the release also allows her earlier Nepal appearances to be viewed differently.
The first major clue appeared in Bandipur. On May 29, Glamour Nepal reported that Shakti had explored the historic hill town dressed in traditional Nepali attire, experiencing its culture, architecture and local hospitality. At the time, the visit could easily have been interpreted as a celebrity holiday or tourism journey.
Then another clue emerged. On July 11, photographs appeared showing Shakti beside a Buddha Air aircraft, accompanied by the hashtag #DanceAcrossTheWorld. Buddha Air also acknowledged her journey through its social-media presence.
Days later came the Patan photographs. Then came dance footage. And finally, in early August, Shakti revealed promotional material connecting Nepal directly with Dance Across The World.
What once looked like a collection of unrelated Nepal moments now reads like a carefully unfolding campaign for the episode.
Nepal Like You’ve Never Seen Before
The title of the episode makes an ambitious promise, but its strength comes from deliberately mixing experiences that international travel content does not always place together.
There is Chudka dance. There is Patan’s living heritage. There is kayaking on the Trishuli. There are momos. There is Everest. And there are encounters with Nepal’s cultural performers and people.
By combining these elements, the episode presents Nepal not simply as scenery but as a country to participate in.
Shakti herself describes the journey as one filled with people, experiences and perspectives that stayed with her long after the trip. Her message also highlights the “warmth and simplicity” she encountered while travelling in the country.

The Nepal connection extends behind the camera as well. For months, audiences saw fragments: a traditional outfit in Bandipur, an airport moment, dramatic photographs in Patan and a few seconds of Nepali dance.
Dance Across The World has now connected those fragments. The resulting episode places Nepal in front of an international dance and lifestyle audience through something the country possesses in extraordinary abundance cultural variety.
And perhaps the most compelling element is that Everest, despite being Nepal’s most famous global symbol, is only one chapter in Shakti Mohan’s Nepal story.
