
Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav presents the Adityadhwaj Joshi Memorial Award to photojournalist Pradeep Raj Onta during the 65th anniversary celebration of Rastriya Samachar Samiti in Kathmandu.
On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Nepal’s national news agency, outstanding employees, journalists, and local correspondents were honored for their contributions.
During the ceremony, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav presented the ‘Adityadhwaj Joshi Memorial Award’, valued at NPR 7,500, to photojournalist Pradeep Raj Onta, recognizing his distinguished service in national and international photojournalism.
Pradeep Raj Onta is a senior Nepalese photojournalist, educator, and leader in the country’s photography community. Born in Bungkot, Gorkha, with family roots in Thamel, Kathmandu, he has worked as a professional photojournalist since 2008, capturing major national events, diplomatic visits, and international assignments.

Onta currently serves as the official photographer for the Election Commission of Nepal and has previously been the official photo advisor to former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda). Beyond his professional assignments, he is the President of the National Forum of Photojournalists Nepal (NFPJ Nepal), where he leads photographers across the country and organizes training programs, workshops, and exhibitions to enhance their skills.
Throughout his career, Onta has received numerous accolades, including the Photojournalist of the Year award (2016), the Best Photojournalist Award (2023), and the Outstanding Achievement Award (Photojournalism) at the Fashion Fare Award 2024, organized by Dream Search Agency Nepal. He has also served as a judge and jury member for major photography competitions, including the Miss Nepal pageant. His work has been featured in exhibitions, including a solo show on World Photography Day, and covers a wide range of cultural, political, and international events.
