Actress Neeta Dhungana has officially unveiled the first look posters of her directorial debut Nepali film ‘Parvati’. The production team released two posters during a special event on Wednesday, immediately creating curiosity among audiences with the film’s emotional and unusual visual presentation.
The posters reveal Neeta Dhungana in a completely different and challenging role compared to her previous glamorous screen appearances. In one poster, she appears dressed as a schoolgirl with short hair, a black thread around her neck, and a simple blue pinafore uniform. Her de-glam look and innocent facial expression hint that her character “Parvati” may be dealing with emotional, social, or psychological struggles.
Unlike the typical glamorous portrayal of female leads in Nepali cinema, Neeta’s appearance in the film looks raw, emotional, and deeply character-driven. Her expressions suggest that Parvati is someone living in her own emotional world rather than fitting into society’s idea of a “normal” character.
The second poster features child singer and actor Ashok Darji carrying Neeta on his back. Though younger in age, Ashok’s character appears to serve as a protector and emotional support for Parvati. Their carefree smiles and emotional connection suggest that the film revolves around a pure and selfless relationship.
Neeta pointing toward the sky in the poster symbolizes dreams, hope, and imagination, while the title design of ‘Parvati’ hints at rebellion, emotional pain, or the social labels imposed upon the character. Words like “love,” “family,” and “affection” written across the wall in the background further indicate that the story is rooted in emotional family relationships and a school environment.
The film is scheduled for release during Raksha Bandhan on Bhadra 12, 2083. The emotional sibling-like bond shown in the posters and the chosen release date strongly suggest that the movie may center around brother-sister relationships, emotional responsibilities, and social acceptance.
‘Parvati’ is considered one of the most ambitious projects of Neeta Dhungana’s career, as she has taken responsibility for the story, screenplay, direction, and lead performance herself.
Alongside Neeta and Ashok Darji, the film also stars Deepashree Niraula, Siru Bista, Radhika Kandel, Raj Pangeni Sharma, Rajendra Nepali, and Asha Poudel.
Produced under the banner of Neeta Dhungana Films, the movie is produced by Harihar Adhikari. Cinematography is handled by Sudip Baral, while dialogues are written by Shivam Adhikari.
The film will be distributed by Rich Entertainment, Apple Entertainment, and FD Company, while OSR Digital has joined as the digital partner.
