Anjali Arora Faces Rs 1.2 Crore Demand Over Alleged Early Exit from Kanpur Event

A planned 45-minute stage appearance has become a legal dispute for Indian actress and social media influencer Anjali Arora. Organisers of Kanpur’s Nagada Nights have sent her a legal notice seeking INR 1.2 crore, alleging that she left after around 12 minutes. Arora says concerns about her safety and privacy prompted her departure.

The dispute centres on an event held on October 15. According to the organisers, Arora had agreed to remain on stage for 45 minutes, but her early exit disrupted the programme.

Indian media reports say the compensation demand includes INR 20 lakh for alleged financial losses and INR 1 crore for alleged defamation. The organisers have also demanded a public apology.

They claim Arora’s appearance fee was set at INR 3 lakh, of which INR 2.75 lakh had been paid. They say they also covered flights, accommodation and meals for her team.

According to the organisers, sponsors withheld payments following the incident, causing an estimated INR 20 lakh in losses. They have approached Kanpur’s Swarup Nagar police station seeking the registration of an FIR.

Arora has offered a different account. In Instagram videos shared on October 19, she raised concerns about security arrangements and intrusions into her personal space. She alleged that people repeatedly rang her hotel room doorbell and approached her for photographs, making her uncomfortable.

She also rejected suggestions that she became upset simply because the DJ played Kacha Badam, the song associated with her rise to social media fame. Arora said she had no objection to the track and acknowledged its role in bringing her recognition.

The organisers have denied her allegations about inadequate security.

Both sides continue to dispute what happened. Available reports confirm that the organisers sought an FIR, but do not establish that one has been registered. The INR 1.2 crore figure is a compensation demand, not a court-ordered payment.
