United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be hosting the Miss World beauty pageant for the first time in its history. This will also mark the first time that the event is being held in the Middle East. Miss World Limited chairperson, Julia Morley, shared this exciting news with her followers on Instagram, expressing her delight over the decision to hold the 71st Miss World beauty pageant in the Emirates.
The last Miss World pageant was held in Puerto Rico in March of 2022, where the beautiful Karolina Bielawska from Poland emerged as the winner. She beat out Miss USA Shree Saini and Olivia Yace from Ivory Coast, who had been considered a top contender for the crown.
Miss World has been in existence since 1951, when Eric Morley, fondly referred to as “Mr World,” founded the competition. It was created in the UK and has since become the oldest-running international beauty pageant. Since Morley’s death in 2000, his widow Julia has co-chaired the event. In November, Nepal-born British businessman Dipendra Gurung became a co-owner of Miss World Limited.
To compete in Miss World, contestants must meet certain eligibility criteria. They must be between the ages of 17 and 27, unmarried, childless, and a resident of the country they represent. The event has become a global phenomenon, showcasing the beauty and talent of women from different parts of the world.
So far, eighty-one delegates have confirmed their participation in the upcoming edition and Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the coronation ceremony.
As the Miss World beauty pageant expands its reach to the Middle East with the UAE hosting this year’s event, the anticipation and excitement is bound to increase. Fans of the pageant, as well as those who are new to it, will eagerly await further details regarding the venue and date, as well as the stunning contestants who will be competing for the coveted title of Miss World 2023.
