Living Goddess Kumari Inspired theme at Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015
Fashion designer being a story teller here comes the story weaved around Nepal’s tradition of worshiping female energy and tranquility, the living Goddess Kumari. This story was been weaved by designer Samant Chauhan who showcased his collection through “Rajputana Kumari” on the runway of Amazon India Fashion Week 2015 with a subtle use of white hues.
The designer was seen presenting the whole story of womanhood by playing with white color adding just a hint of red. The show introduced Chauhan’s creativity with a video clip, which captured the life of Nepal within by-lanes, mountains and temples. With Nepal being Chauhan’s inspiration, the show took off with chants of ‘Namaste’ introducing a girl child in a Nepali outfit on the runway along with a female and male model.
The designer Samant Chauhan showcased his range at the second day of the five-day fashion gala, Amazon India Fashion Week autumn/winter 2015 which was held at Pragati Maidan at the capital city Delhi. The collection represented purity and divine energy embodying 16 forms of “Kumari” including Sandhya, Saraswati, Kalika, Shubhga, Tridhamurti and others.
The collection had long dresses, coats having the main color gold added in different forms. The shade used was mainly the white touched with prints in imagination levels. Velvet, suede, zari and silk gave in a charm look too. Each outfit from the collection was an example of creativity blended with innovation.
Designer’s selection of fabrics like silk, cotton fabric, velvets, satin helped make the range opulent with heavy golden embroidery, and shiny ‘zari’ work. Moreover this Rajputana Kumari collection also featured the models wearing heavy accessories in pearls, gold and luminous marble white jewels.
“Nepal is the inspiration behind my collection,” Chauhan told reporters post his show on Thursday 26th March 2015.
