Niti Shah, Prabhat Pal Thakuri | Jadau Trailer Explores Inter-Caste Love and Social Discrimination
The official trailer of the upcoming Nepali film Jadau has been released, offering a dramatic glimpse into a story shaped by love, social discrimination and the complications surrounding inter-caste relationships.
Directed jointly by Anjan Sharma and Kaji Limbu, the roughly two-and-a-quarter-minute trailer keeps the film’s central storyline under wraps while moving between romance, humour, confrontation and emotional moments.
Rather than revealing the entire conflict, the trailer uses fragments of relationships and tense encounters to establish the film’s social backdrop. At the heart of Jadau is the issue of caste-based discrimination and the challenges it can create in personal relationships and everyday life.
Kaji Limbu has written the film, which the makers describe as an entertaining social drama carrying a message alongside its mainstream elements.
Speaking at the trailer launch, director Anjan Sharma said the team had attempted to use cinema to raise a strong voice against caste discrimination still present in Nepali society, as well as the oppression faced by economically and socially vulnerable people.
Sharma also said Jadau is rooted in the realities of Nepali life and expressed confidence that its story would offer both entertainment and a positive social message.
Co-director and writer Kaji Limbu said Jadau brings to the screen a story the team had wanted to tell for years. According to him, the film is intended not only to be watched but also to be felt and reflected upon.
The trailer also puts the film’s ensemble cast in focus. Mukun Bhusal said his character in Jadau is different from the roles he has played in the past, while Niti Shah said she had worked hard on the project and was hopeful about the outcome.
Prabhat Pal Thakuri described Jadau as an important film for his career and urged audiences to watch it. Geeta Adhikari and Naresh Poudyal also spoke about their respective roles and expressed confidence that the film would connect with viewers.
Executive producer Shanti Pudasaini recalled the effort and challenges involved in bringing the film to completion. Producer Dill Raj Pokharel said the film seeks to entertain while also strengthening the conversation against caste discrimination.
Concept designer Bimala Bhandari also called on audiences to support the film.
Scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on Asoj 9, Jadau features Mukun Bhusal, Niti Shah, Prabhat Pal Thakuri, Reecha Sharma, Geeta Adhikari, Naresh Poudyal, Rajshree Thapa, Binod Neupane, Khadga Bahadur Pun (Khabapu), Sundar Dhital, Sandhya Shrestha and Sumitra Devkota, among others.
The film has cinematography by Shyam Tamang, with Nawaraj Upreti handling the song visuals. Rajaram Subedi, Sumitra Devkota, Deepak Pokharel and Narayan Shastri are co-producers.
Srijana Sharma, Manish Sharma and Dill Raj Pokharel are the producers, while Shanti Pudasaini serves as executive producer. NGCN Group is handling the film’s distribution.
Produced by Samishran Movies & Entertainment in collaboration with Silver Screen Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., Jadau has already introduced audiences to its title song, “Jadau Hajur…,” and the romantic track “Timisanga Naboli…”. A teaser for the film was also released earlier.
With its trailer now out, Jadau is positioning its mix of romance, emotion and social conflict at the centre of its theatrical campaign while continuing to keep the film’s larger narrative largely unrevealed.
