After a good response in Kathmandu, a team of the Nepali film ‘Baristha Balaram’ is traveling outside of Kathmandu to meet audiences and hear their reactions. Actors Vijay Baral, Samriddhi Aryal, and director Surendra Poudel are now travelling western Nepal, visiting various theatres and interacting with audiences.
Director Poudel shared that the response has been overwhelming. ‘The audience loves the film,’ he said with a smile. ‘People are saying, ‘this movie is a must watch because it tells a real Nepali story.’ Moviegoers in outside of Kathmandu are calling it an excellent film.’ he added.
According to Poudel, most of the shows of ‘Baristha Balaram’ were house-full, and few are maintaining over 70% occupancy. The film released during Festival ‘Tihar’ Bhai Tika Day, continues to draw large crowds across Nepal. From the first day, the film saw strong occupancy 70 to 80% in some cinemas, with others packed to capacity.
The excitement has been so high that some theaters even added extra Saturday shows to meet demand. Morning shows were full, and by the second day, the film had already built solid momentum. The strong word-of-mouth buzz has clearly paid off.
the film is directed by Surendra Poudel and produced by Vrishab Siddhi Entertainment in association with Anvi Films.
The film features a strong casts including Samriddhi Aryal, Pashupati Rai, Maotse Gurung, Bholaraj Sapkota, Ram Babu Regmi, and Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary (PK).
Director Poudel himself wrote the story and handled the editing, while the screenplay is penned by Mahesh Dawadi. Producers Ashish H. Tamang and Shreeraj Karki led the project, with Pradeep G. Dhami and Pushkar B. Ghimire as executive producers, and Ram Bista as line producer.
The film’s cinematography is by Manakrishna Maharjan, music by Prashant Siwakoti, action direction by Samrat Basnet, and choreography by Pradeep Lamo. Distribution is handled by DCN in the Valley and Kuber Cine Distribution outside the Valley.
