Katherine Espin is crowned as Miss Earth 2016

A model and cosmetologist, the 23 years of age Espin Katherine from Ecuador has been successful to wear the winning tiara of this year’s Miss Earth 2016 pageant.

During the grand coronation of Miss Earth 2016 held on 29 October 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manilla, Philippines. Espin was able to leave behind eighty two other global beauties to win the award of 16th edition of Miss Earth pageant.

Miss Earth 2016 was represented by Roshni Khatri, the winner of Miss Nepal Earth 2016 at Miss Nepal 2016. In the event 20 years of age Nepalese belle Roshni Khatri was successful to bag the silver medal in the Resorts wear competition. The wear was been designed by Mishu Shrestha.

This is the second time Ecuador has won the Manila-based pageant this year. Earlier, Angela Bonilla from Ecuador took home the 2016 Miss Global title, which was also staged in Philippines. Espin is the second Ecuadorian woman to win the Miss Earth crown, following Olga Alava who won in 2011. Besides Espin three other South American beauties were most successful in this years’s Miss Earth pageant.

In the event, Colombia’s Michelle Gomez was proclaimed Miss Earth-Air, while Venezuela’s Stephanie De Zorzi received the Miss Earth-Water title. Likewise Brazil’s Bruna Zanardo earned the Miss Earth-Fire award. Other than these, Best Eco Beauty video title was bestowed to Tatiana Ovcinicova from Moldova while Charlotte Hitchman from Wales was awarded as Miss Eco-Warrior.
