The closing ceremony of the EU-Nepal Trade and Investment Program (EU-TIP), hosted at Hotel Yak and Yeti, featured a captivating Pashmina Fashion Showcase, blending artistry and craftsmanship in a memorable display of Nepalese heritage. The showcase was collaboration between Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT) and the Nepal Pashmina Industry Association (NPIA), illuminating the elegance and versatility of Nepalese pashmina on the runway.
The fashion showcase unfolded with a team of 16 models, including four male and twelve female models, who presented pashmina pieces with sophistication and style. Fashion designing students from NCFT’s 19th batch, Prisha Joshi and Anuj Nagarkoti, skillfully handled the styling and model coordination, ensuring a polished and cohesive presentation. Renowned media personality and international fashion choreographer Rojin Shakya directed the show, while former Miss Nepal Sugarika K.C. took on the role of the event’s charismatic host, adding a touch of grace and familiarity.
The runway event was segmented into four distinct rounds, each highlighting pashmina’s versatility across different styles: Lounge Wear, Smart Casual Wear, and Glam Wear. The final round was a heartfelt tribute to the artisans and workers behind the pashmina creations. These skilled individuals took to the runway themselves, recognized as the true “heroes” of pashmina craftsmanship, showcasing the unique forms and accessories they helped bring to life.
The showcased pashmina products represented the work of prestigious brands, including KPA Pashmina, Plush Cashmere, Cashmere World Nepal, Gayatri Pashmina, Mt. Manaslu Pashmina, and Alpine Pashmina, who each contributed to the display of Nepal’s rich textile heritage.
Supported by the European Union and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and GIZ (German Corporation for International Cooperation GmbH), the EU-TIP closing ceremony highlighted Nepal’s textile potential on a global scale, celebrating local talent and craftsmanship while fostering international partnerships and appreciation for Nepalese artistry.
