Nepali Film Dying Candle won the ‘Best Cinematography’ award at Queens World Film Fest


Dying Candle won the Best Cinematography' Nepali film Dying Candle has won the ‘Best Cinematography in a Feature’ award at the 6th Queens World Film Festival, New York. Cinematographers Rabin Acharya and Dipankar Sikder have worked together in the film. Acharya received the award at an award ceremony held in New York on March 19.

Directed by Naresh Kumar KC, the film was nominated in three categories best actress in a feature, best feature narrative and best cinematography in a feature.
“Feels so happy to be awarded in my debut film,” Acharya, a Nepali cinematographer posted on his Facebook page. Meanwhile Indian cinematographer Sikder said, “Winning any award is recognition of your hard work! When it happens at any international platform that’s always a blessing for the whole team.”

Sharing his happiness after the win, KC expressed, “We aren’t technically sound but winning this award has given us an encouragement that we aren’t less than others. If there is a good team work, we can take Nepali movies to an international arena.”

The 89 minutes’ movie narrates the relationship between two siblings. “Our country boasts cultural festivals that celebrate the bonding between brothers and sisters. I felt, a story on this topic could appeal to the mass,” shared KC.

The film that has Sirjana Subba, Lakpa Singhi Tamang, Bidhya Karki, Saugat Malla, and Arpan Thapa in the lead roles, depicts the story from Nepal.
