Nepathya performed in Seoul with massive audience


Popular folk rock band of Nepal, Nepathya performed in front of an audience of 4,000 music lovers, including Nepali migrant workers, at the KBS Area in Seoul of South Korea on Thursday,15 September 2016.

The management team Nepalaya informed in a statement, the local organizers had sold out of the tickets for the show at the hall with the capacity of 4,000 people. “Many people who travelled long for the show could not enter. We are sorry for it,” the Nepalaya statement quoted Uina Singh Tamang, President of Nepal Tamang Sangh, South Korea, as saying.

The show was hosted the occasion of Korea’s Chuseok festival. Chuseok is a major harvest festival celebrated with three days of public holiday, when people visit their ancestral hometown.

For immigrant Nepali communities, this becomes an opportunity to get together with friends. Most of the Nepali immigrants working in all corners of South Korea gather in and around Seoul to meet friends, according to Tamang.

“The festival season has started in Nepal and Dashain is round the corner. Let me take this opportunity to wish you an advanced greeting for Dashain,” Nepathya front man Amrit Gurung said as he began the show.

The show was a mixture of hit numbers of Nepathya along with two new songs, Koshiko Paani and Rama Rama, released recently on YouTube. Both the songs have become instant hits among YouTube viewers and concert audience, the statement claimed.

After the Korea show, the band is scheduled to come back home. But, it will immediately leave for their two-city tour in the United States.

On September 24, the band will perform at the Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center in New York before it heads to San Francisco for a performance at the Warfield Theater on October 1.
