Spider-Man: Brand New Day Opens to Historic $927 Million Worldwide
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have another global blockbuster on their hands. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has stormed the worldwide box office with an estimated $927 million during its opening weekend, making it the second-biggest global opening in cinema history, trailing only 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
The film also recorded one of Hollywood’s strongest domestic debuts, earning $355 million across the United States and Canada. Internationally, it added $572 million, with China contributing $121 million, helping propel the Marvel adventure to a record-breaking global launch.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Tom Holland’s fourth standalone outing as Peter Parker. The story follows Parker as he struggles to balance life and heroism in a world where everyone has forgotten his true identity after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Zendaya returns as MJ alongside several familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film has also earned a warm reception from critics and moviegoers. Reviews have praised its emotional storytelling, action sequences and Tom Holland’s performance, while audiences have rewarded it with exceptionally strong approval ratings.
Industry analysts say the blockbuster debut comes at an important time for Marvel Studios after several recent releases underperformed commercially. The remarkable opening has renewed confidence in the superhero genre and strengthens momentum heading toward Marvel’s next major release, Avengers: Doomsday.
The film’s success has extended beyond North America. It has posted record-breaking openings across several international markets, including India, and has also become the highest-opening Hollywood film ever released in Nepal, where local distributors reported an opening-day collection of Rs 1 crore 99 lakh 69 thousand. While the Nepal figure has been widely circulated by local distributors and box office trackers, it has not yet been independently published by an official government box office source.
With overwhelmingly positive audience response and strong advance bookings, industry observers expect Spider-Man: Brand New Day to continue dominating cinemas in the coming weeks and potentially become one of the highest-grossing superhero films of all time.
