Aakriti Budhathoki has joined director Prabesh Poudel’s upcoming film ‘Mayalu’ as the lead actress. The triangular love story, also starring Kabir Khadka, will be filmed in Nepal and Australia.

Actress Aakriti Budhathoki has been signed as the female lead in director Prabesh Poudel’s upcoming film ‘Mayalu’. The project will mark her second film appearance and her first outing as a lead actress.

Aakriti previously appeared in ‘Muktipur’. Having started her acting journey through theatre and modelling, she is now preparing to take on a more prominent role on the big screen with ‘Mayalu’.

The film will be Prabesh Poudel’s third directorial venture after ‘America Boys’ and ‘Bihe Pass’. Described as a triangular love story, ‘Mayalu’ is based on a story written by Poudel, while the screenplay has been written by Anil Kurmi.

Kabir Khadka will also appear in a lead role alongside Aakriti. The production team is currently searching for another actress for a supporting role.

‘Mayalu’ will be shot in both Australia and Nepal, with Sharad Mahato handling the cinematography. The film’s music will be composed by Anmol Thapa.

The film is being produced under the banners of Sitara and Kabir Khadka Films, with Surendra Rawal serving as producer. According to the production plan, filming is expected to begin in Australia after Dashain.

Interestingly, the project was initially titled ‘Mero Adhuro Prem’ before being renamed ‘Mayalu’. Director Poudel has said that after the release of ‘Mayalu’, he plans to make another film under the title ‘Mero Adhuro Prem’.
