Hollywood movie Sold is scheduled to be made special screening in Nepal. The movie is based on the story of 13-year-old Nepali teenage girl who is trafficked and sold at a prostitute in Calcutta of India. Holding a press-meet in capital on Monday, the production team told media persons that the movie’s special screening will be made in Nepal on Tuesday 18th of November 2014.
Producer, director and actors of the movie were present in the press-meet. According to the production team, the movie’s special screening is being coordinated by an organization called ‘Child Reach Nepal’.
Oscar award winner Jeffrey D Brown is the director of the movie which is based on a novel ‘Sold’ by Patricia McCormick.
Speaking at the meet, director Brown said that he was looking for the direction of a movie having similar type of story and his quest for such story was fulfilled after reading the novel. He also said that the film will also help in spreading the awareness about the woman trafficking.
Jane Charles, producer of the movie, also said that the movie will help on curbing the child trafficking in the world. “This novel is translated into 32 languages and there are many girls who have protected themselves from the trafficking after reading this novel. The movie will be supportive towards curbing the girl trafficking,” she claimed.
She also underscored the need of media for their supportive roles in preventing woman trafficking. Child Reach Nepal is also starting a campaign named ‘Lets educate children, stop them from trafficking’.
