The official showcase for Rajinikanth’s highly-anticipated movie ‘Jailer’ has been released and is generating a lot of excitement among movie enthusiasts. The video portrays Rajinikanth’s character, showcasing different facets of the central figure and his duality as a mass hero with a soft and vulnerable side. Other actors like Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, and Yogi Babu also appear in the showcase video.
Fans are puzzled and disappointed by the absence of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar in the showcase, despite their significant roles in the film. Similarly, Tamannaah, who featured in the popular song ‘Kaavaalaa,’ is also missing from in the showcase.
Social media is abuzz with fans questioning why Mohanlal, who is an integral part of the film, was not included in the showcase. Tamannaah’s absence is also notable, considering her previous hit song ‘Kaavaalaa,’ which went viral with fans recreating her dance moves.

Jailer is Indian Tamil-language black comedy-action film directed by Nelson and produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. The movie features Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside a star-studded cast including Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Mirnaa Menon, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
The film was officially announced in February 2022 with the working title Thalaivar 169, as it marks Rajinikanth’s 169th film. Later in June, the official title Jailer was revealed. Principal photography commenced in August 2022 in Chennai and concluded in June 2023.
The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with Vijay Kartik Kannan as the cinematographer and R. Nirmal as the editor. Jailer is set to hit the theaters on 10 August 2023.
