Nepali film ‘Malati Mangale’ has successfully cleared censorship despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the country’s film certification system. The confusion began after the government introduced the “Special Provision Ordinance on Removal of Public Officials – 2083,” which led to the removal of several members of the censor board.
This sudden vacancy raised serious concerns about how upcoming films would be approved for release. However, ‘Malati Mangale’ has managed to move forward, completing its censorship process without delay. The film, which has a runtime of 2 hours and 38 minutes, has received a Universal certificate, meaning it is suitable for audiences of all age groups.
Producer and singer Ramkrishna Dhakal personally collected the certification, signaling confidence from the production team. The film is now officially set to release on Baisakh 25 (Friday).
To address the absence of regular board members, the Film Development Board treated film censorship as an essential service. A representative, Deepa Basnet, was assigned to oversee the process. Meanwhile, ex-officio members from various ministries remained in place, allowing the screening and approval process to proceed within a legal framework.
‘Malati Mangale’ is produced under the banner of Rani Films in collaboration with Uni Entertainment. The story is written by director Praku Pandey, while the screenplay and dialogues are handled by Sanyog Guragain.
The film features a diverse cast including Bijay, Barsha, Maksam, Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Narin Thapa, Mansu Sapkota, and others. With a mix of experienced and emerging actors, the film aims to deliver a strong emotional and entertaining experience.
Its promotional content has already generated buzz. Songs like “Sunaiko Sapani,” “Dhunga Mathi Leu,” and the energetic dance number “Jhyam Param” have gained attention among audiences.
Distributed by RR Films, ‘Malati Mangle’ is expected to draw viewers to theaters this Friday. Despite initial uncertainty, the film’s smooth clearance has boosted confidence in its release, making it one of the notable Nepali films to watch this week.
