The release of the highly anticipated movie Jaari 2 ‘Song of Chyabrung’ has been officially postponed in Nepal. Initially planned for Aswin 3 (September 19), aligning with Constitution Day, the film will now wait for a more favorable time.

Speaking about the decision, director Upendra Subba said, ‘When the whole nation is in grief, we cannot promote the film and ask people to watch it. It is not possible to release on that date.’

The production banner Baasuri Films Pvt. Ltd. had already announced the suspension of all entertainment programs, including the trailer launch, due to Gen-Z protests and the tense situation in the country. The film’s trailer, which was set for release last week, was also put on hold at the last moment.

A sequel to the blockbuster Jaari (2023), the new film stars Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, Bijay Baral, and others. The first installment was one of the biggest box-office successes in Nepali cinema history, praised for highlighting Limbu traditions and social themes. While Nepali audiences must wait, international screenings are set to begin on September 19, 2025.
