Keki Adhikari, Abhimanyu Dixit, Shanta Nepali, and Ngima Gelu Sherpa to attend BFI London Film Festival under the UK Film Study Tour 2025.
The British Council Nepal has announced four dynamic Nepali filmmakers who will represent Nepal at the prestigious ‘UK Film Study Tour 2025’ a cultural exchange initiative aimed at strengthening creative collaboration between the film industries of Nepal and the United Kingdom.
The selected delegates include actress and producer Keki Adhikari, filmmaker and critic Abhimanyu Mani Acharya Dixit, director Ngima Gelu Sherpa (Nimma Gelu Lama), and filmmaker Shanta Nepali. These creative voices from Nepal’s new generation of storytellers will travel to the UK early next year to participate in immersive learning experiences, production workshops, and industry interactions.
According to the British Council Nepal, the “Bridging Cinemas” program is designed to connect Nepal’s emerging film talents with the UK’s globally renowned film ecosystem — spanning production, policy, education, and innovation. The initiative also celebrates the creative ties between Kathmandu, Bradford, and Bristol, all recognized as UNESCO Creative Cities of Film.
During the tour, the delegates will engage with leading film institutions, attend the BFI London Film Festival, and explore opportunities for co-production and training. The experience aims to provide global insight that can inspire creativity, inclusion, and growth within Nepal’s film industry.
“This program is not just a study tour, it’s a bridge between two vibrant cultures,” said one of the participants via social media. The filmmakers also expressed gratitude for the selection, describing it as a proud moment for Nepali cinema on an international platform.
