54th edition of Miss International pageant was held on November 11, 2014. The grand event that took place at Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan saw more than seventy beauties from different countries of the world. Valerie Hernandez of Puerto Rico was crowned Miss International 2014. During the question and answer session, the candidates were asked what would be their message to the world if they will be crowned Miss International 2014. Hernandez answered,’thinking about Miss International title, I think it’s not just crown, it’s not just the title, it’s one of the hardest responsibility. As Miss International, I want to send a message of love, peace, and unity. ‘
It was second time , Puerto Rico won its 2nd Miss International crown after Valerie Hernandez Matias completed as the winner in this year’s pageant . Earlier Puerto Rico won its 1st Miss International crown back in 1987 via Laurie Simpson Rivera. In the competition, Zuleika Suarez of Colombia finalized as the 1st runner-up while Punika Kulsoontornrut of Thailand was chosen as 2nd runner-up. Like wise Victoria Tooby of United Kingdom made to 3rd runner-up position whereas Milla Romppanen of Finland stood as 4th runner-up. Zuleika Suarez was the night’s most awarded contestant.
Besides being the 1st Runner-Up Zuleika Suarez, she also won Best Dresser and Miss Friendship award. Meanwhile, the winners on other special awards, Elfin Pertiwi Rappa of Indonesia got National Costume, Jhataleka Malhotra of India grabbed the Internet Beauty award while Aurianne Sinacola of France clinched the Perfect Body awards.
In the competition 24 years of age beautiful lady from Pokhara, Miss Nepal International 2014, Sonie Rajbhandari was Nepal’s representative. Sonie was not able to grab any remarkable achievements besides the participation.
