London-based model Sol Gurung joins director Milan Chams’ new love story ‘Sumnima’
Director Milan Chams is currently busy for the filming of his upcoming love story ‘Sumnima’, a romantic film that recently wrapped its first shooting schedule in London, UK.
A surprising update: Actress Upasana Singh Thakuri is out, and a new face, Sol Gurung, has stepped in as the leading lady.
Sharing the update on his Instagram, director Milan Chams wrote: ‘Through the film ‘Sumnima,’ we have introduced the young Actress Sol Gurung to the Nepali Cinema. I believe her talent and dedication will add a new dimension to Nepali cinema. We request all viewers, well-wishers, and cine-lovers to shower love, blessings, and support to Sol Gurung. Wishing her a successful, inspiring, and historic journey. Jai Nepali Cinema.’
Originally, Upasana Singh Thakuri was cast in the lead role, but she later confirmed that the project was dropped from her side. The reason behind her exit has not been revealed. In her place, the makers have brought in Sol Gurung.
Who is Sol Gurung?
Sol Gurung, a Nepali model based in London, has appeared in several music videos including ‘Nachaheko Hoina’ by The Edge Band and ‘TAKKI – Kura Kani’ featuring Zac Rai.
According to production team, she has officially joined the film during its London shoot. The production team has now returned to Nepal to continue filming the remaining parts.
Sumnima is jointly produced under the banners of Gorkha Films and Chams Entertainment also features Kunsang Bamjan, Anup Bikram Shahi, Dhiren Shakya, Mao Tse Gurung, Suraj Tamu, Akash Sunuwar, Salina Thapa, and Susma Subba in major roles.
According to Director Chams, Sumnima is designed for a global audience, blending Nepali storytelling with an international cinematic feel. Written by Rajiv Thapa, the film’s next shooting schedule will take place across scenic locations in Nepal.
Milan Chams is known for versatile film hits like Bir Bikram, Lily Bily, Blind Rocks, Bobby, Gorkha Warrior, and Anjila, is ready to deliver another heartfelt story. Sumnima aims to connect Nepal with the Nepali diaspora around the world.
