The 12th edition of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) will be held at the Kamapokhari-based Kumari Hall from Thursday.
The KIMFF shifted its venue this time to Kumari Hall after the government barred from holding the festival at City Hall after it got facelift for the recently concluded 18th SAARC Summit.
Chairman of Himal Association Basanta Thapa said they failed to hold festival at City Hall despite their efforts.
“There is dispute between KMC and other sides on management of the hall after SAARC Summit,” he said at a press meet organized in the capital, “The concerned side didn’t allow organizing the event at the venue. So, it was shifted.”
According to organizer, 70 films of 20 countries will be screened this time.
The film festival will be divided into three categories namely international, non-competitive and Nepal panorama. The jury members for these competitions are British photographer Henry Iddon, US
mountaineer and filmmaker David Breashears, and Italian filmmaker Paola Nessi. The film topping the competition will be awarded with USD 1000.
