Actor and cultural icon Rajesh Hamal has publicly voiced his disappointment and shame over the current political situation in Nepal. In a heartfelt Facebook post on Monday, Hamal wrote that the nation’s leadership has not only failed to provide young people with a promising future but has also deprived them of their present.
Hamal stated:
“As a nation, we have not only failed to provide our youth with a hopeful future, but we are also robbing them of their present. I am traveling abroad. Never in my life have I felt such shame in being Nepali. Today has become the most painful day in Nepal’s history.”

Known for rarely commenting on politics or social issues, Hamal’s words carry significant weight at a time when youth-led protests have erupted nationwide against the government’s recent ban on major social media platforms. The demonstrations, led largely by Generation Z, have turned violent, prompting widespread national debate and international attention.
Observers say Hamal’s remarks reflect the deep frustration shared by many Nepalis, particularly the younger generation, who feel betrayed by corruption, nepotism, and what they see as repeated failures of governance.
As protests intensify, his post has already gained thousands of reactions, comments, and shares, further amplifying public sentiment in what many are calling a historic moment of reckoning for the country.
