Jaun Yonjan’s ‘Aankha: Crawling Crows’ Makes Nepal Proud with Double Win at WorldFest Houston International Film Festival

Nepali film ‘Aankha: Crawling Crows’, directed by Jaun Yonjan, has won two prestigious Remi Awards at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival in the United States. The film received the Platinum Remi Award for Best Foreign Feature and a Gold Award in the Direction-Craft category.

Nepali film ‘Aankha: Crawling Crows’ has brought international recognition to Nepali cinema after winning two prestigious Remi Awards at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival in the United States. Directed by Jaun Yonjan, the film secured the Platinum Remi Award in the Foreign Feature category and a Gold Award in the Direction-Craft category.

The festival organizing committee officially informed the production team about the achievement through email.

Founded in 1961, WorldFest Houston is regarded as one of the oldest independent film festivals in the world. Legendary Hollywood filmmakers including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, David Lynch, and Ang Lee also received Remi Awards from the same festival during the early phase of their careers.

This is not the first international achievement for ‘Aankha’. Earlier, the film won the Best Film award at the 62nd Asia Pacific Film Festival.

The movie portrays the struggles, emotions, and harsh realities of people living in squatter settlements. The cast includes Smita Lamichhane, Pashupati Rai, Nisha Adhikari, RK Mehta, Vijay Baral, and Buddhi Tamang.
For many viewers, the film stands out for its realistic storytelling and socially rooted narrative.
