Deepa Shree Niraula Undergoes Successful Brain Tumour Surgery, Shifted to General Ward

Kathmandu. Actress and director Deepa Shree Niraula has undergone successful surgery for a brain tumour. Her longtime collaborator, actor and producer Deepak Raj Giri, shared the health update on Facebook, confirming that she has been moved from the intensive care unit to a general ward and is currently recovering.

According to available information, Niraula began experiencing back pain while she was busy with the shooting of ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’. Believing it to be a routine health issue, she visited Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Maitighar, Kathmandu, for a medical check-up.

Niraula had reportedly visited the same hospital for health consultations in the past. However, this time, medical examinations revealed a brain tumour, prompting doctors to recommend immediate treatment.

Her family members and close associates reportedly suggested travelling to India for further treatment. Niraula, however, decided to undergo surgery in Nepal under the care of experienced neurosurgeon Dr Basant Pant.

Deepak Raj Giri Shares Emotional Health Update

Deepak Raj Giri described the past week as a difficult and challenging period for their team.

In his Facebook statement, he wrote that the tumour was detected in the middle of the film shoot and that the news initially left them uncertain about what to do.

“This week was very challenging and difficult for us. Deepa Ji was diagnosed with a brain tumour during the shoot. We were confused, and immediate surgery became necessary. We received advice from many people to go to India,” Giri wrote.

He added that they eventually decided to proceed with surgery in Nepal.

“In the end, we decided to have the surgery performed by Nepal’s experienced doctor Basant Pant. With God’s blessings, the surgery was completed successfully. She has now been moved from the ICU to a general ward and is recovering,” he stated.

Giri also thanked fans, well-wishers and the medical team involved in Niraula’s treatment.

“Thank you to all the viewers and well-wishers for their blessings, and to all the healthcare professionals involved in the treatment. Jai Pashupatinath,” he wrote.

Deepa Shree Niraula has undergone brain tumour surgery and, according to Deepak Raj Giri, has been shifted from the ICU to a general ward.

Completed Professional Commitments Before Hospital Admission

Despite learning about the serious health condition, Niraula reportedly completed several professional commitments before being admitted to the hospital.

She finished filming a song for ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’, completed dubbing work for a film associated with actress Neeta Dhungana and also participated in the shooting of the television programme ‘Comedy Nights.’

Only a limited number of family members and close associates were reportedly aware of the seriousness of her condition at the time. She was admitted to the hospital for surgery after completing her scheduled work.

Tumour Reportedly Measured Around Four Centimetres

According to information attributed to Deepak Raj Giri, the tumour detected in Niraula’s brain measured approximately four centimetres.

However, the hospital and the doctors involved in her treatment have not publicly released detailed medical information about the tumour’s exact location, nature or possible long-term impact.

The seriousness of a brain tumour cannot be determined by size alone. Its location, growth pattern, effect on surrounding brain structures and whether it is cancerous or non-cancerous are also important factors.

Doctors may recommend surgery when a tumour is large, causes symptoms or puts pressure on important parts of the brain. However, the treatment plan varies depending on each patient’s medical condition, scans and diagnostic results.

Biopsy Report Yet to Be Made Public

The exact type and grade of a brain tumour can generally be determined after laboratory examination of tissue removed during surgery.

No official information has yet been released regarding Niraula’s biopsy report. It is therefore not possible at this stage to confirm whether the tumour is benign, meaning non-cancerous, or malignant, meaning cancerous.

Until the biopsy or pathology findings are officially shared, linking her condition to a specific tumour type would be speculative.

Possible Impact on ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’

Niraula’s health condition was discovered while the team was working on ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’. The production team has not yet issued an official statement regarding possible changes to the film’s remaining shooting schedule.

Deepa Shree Niraula is one of the most recognised names in Nepal’s television and film industry. She became widely popular through the comedy television series ‘Tito Satya’ and later established herself as a successful filmmaker through the commercially popular ‘Chhakka Panja’ franchise.

Her long creative partnership with Deepak Raj Giri remains one of the best-known collaborations in Nepal’s entertainment industry.

Following the announcement of her surgery, actors, filmmakers, fans and well-wishers have been sending messages wishing her a speedy and complete recovery.
