actor and director Deepa Shree Niraula has undergone surgery for a brain tumour and has subsequently been transferred from the intensive care unit to a general ward, according to an update shared by actor Deepak Raj Giri.
The health condition was reportedly detected while work on the upcoming film Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2 was underway. Following the diagnosis, Niraula underwent surgery.
Giri’s update indicates that her condition has improved sufficiently for doctors to move her out of intensive care. However, the hospital, nature of the tumour, medical prognosis and details of any further treatment have not been publicly disclosed.
Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2 is the sequel to the 2019 social-comedy film Chha Maya Chhapakkai. The project is being produced under Rohit Adhikari Films, with Deepak and Deepa’s Aama Saraswati Movies attached as a profit-sharing partner. Dipendra Lama is directing the film.
Niraula is one of Nepal’s most recognised actors and filmmakers. She became a household name through the television comedy series Tito Satya and later directed commercially successful films in the Chhakka Panja franchise.
