Recently in a pageant eighteen transgender models were spotted competing for the award called Miss Pink Nepal 2016. The event organized by the Blue Diamond Society, a LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals) rights group was been showcased at Rastriya Naachghar, Jamal.
In the competition Annie Lama bagged the award of Miss Pink Nepal 2016. She received cash prize worth rupees fifty thousand and also earned an opportunity to represent Nepal at Miss Pink, international competition being organized at Thailand. Miss Pink Nepal 2016 saw Akanshya Timilsena as the first runner-ups while Pallavi Sharma secured second runner-ups position.
Miss Pink Nepal was initiated in the 2004 in remembrance of the day when the third genders got their rights in the society on 17th May, 1990 as before they were neglected and not liked by other people. The day is celebrated as international day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
