
Nepali film Lalibazar has reached a major box office milestone. The film, which was released on Baisakh 25, has completed 51 days in theatres, marking one of the strongest theatrical runs for a Nepali film this year.
Produced under the banner of Shatkon Arts, Lalibazar completed its 51-day run across several cinemas, including QFX Bhaktapur, QFX Civil Mall, QFX City Square, Big Movies Kamalpokhari, CDC Cinemas Sundhara, CK Cinemas Sitapaila, Ranjana Cineplex New Road, Friends Cinemas in Butwal and Ilam, and Cine Royal Nepalgunj.
Executive producer and screenwriter Pradeep Bhattarai said the team would visit different theatres throughout the day to celebrate the achievement with audiences. He expressed gratitude, saying Shatkon Arts has once again received strong love from viewers, just like its earlier successful films.
According to the production team, Lalibazar has also started its diaspora screenings. The film is currently being screened in different European countries and is expected to release gradually in Japan, Australia, and the United States.
At the domestic box office, Lalibazar has already grossed over Rs 9 crore and is now moving toward the Rs 10 crore club, making it one of the most commercially successful Nepali films released so far in 2083 BS.
The film is directed by Yam Thapa. Shatkon Arts has previously produced successful Nepali films such as Tulkajung vs Tulke, Jatra, Jatrai Jatra, Mahapurush, and Mahajatra.
Lalibazar features Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Samaira Thapa, Mukunda Kumar Shrestha, Abhay Baral, Prem Pandey, Asha Poudel, Govinda Sunar, Abha Aryal, Tara Sharma, Ramesh Badi, Saraswati Adhikari, Janaki Kathayat, Nishchal Panthi, and Birbal Chaudhary, among others.
The film also marks the acting debut of Bishal Devkota and Prashamsa Subedi. Bishal is known for his theatre background, while Prashamsa represents the Gen-Z generation of Nepali actors.
The screenplay and dialogue have been jointly written by Yam Thapa and Pradeep Bhattarai. Pradeep Bhattarai is the executive producer, while Max Dipesh Khatri and Rabindra Singh Baniya are the producers.
With its 51-day milestone, Lalibazar has proved that strong storytelling, meaningful characters, and audience connection still matter at the Nepali box office.
