Actor Biraj Bhatta has officially started filming his upcoming home production ‘12 Gaun 2’. The shoot began on Wednesday at Raju Painter Studio in Chyasal, Lalitpur, with a traditional worship ceremony marking the start of production.
According to the production team, filming will continue for around 60 days across different locations in Kathmandu and eastern Nepal. The movie is already creating buzz due to its cast lineup and large-scale production setup.
The film stars Biraj Bhatta alongside Samir Bhatta, Anup Bikram Shahi, Kafiya Shahi, and Prakash Shah. Among them, Samir and Kafiya will be seen as the film’s on-screen couple, while Anup Bikram Shahi is set to appear in a negative role.
Interestingly, the film started its shoot with a song sequence featuring Samir and Kafiya. The makers appear to be focusing heavily on visual presentation, as two grand sets worth around NPR 3 million have been specially built at the Chyasal studio for filming.
The scale of the production suggests that ‘12 Gaun 2’ is aiming to deliver a bigger cinematic experience compared to the first installment. With action, drama, and commercial entertainment expected to be part of the package, the film is being positioned as a major Dashain release.
The distribution rights have already been divided regionally. Govinda Shahi will handle distribution inside Kathmandu Valley, while Kuber Distribution will manage releases outside the valley.
RJ Pranav Subedi is serving as the production controller for the film.
With shooting now officially underway, audiences can expect more updates, posters, and promotional content in the coming months. Given Biraj Bhatta’s fan following and the growing popularity of Samir Bhatta among younger viewers, ‘12 Gaun 2’ is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Nepali films of the festive season.
