Global Dance Platform Arrives: World of Dance Nepal 2026 Launches

The internationally known dance competition World of Dance is back in Nepal. The second edition of World of Dance Nepal 2026 was officially announced at a press event in Kathmandu.

Originally started in Southern California in 2008, World of Dance has now expanded to more than 50 countries. The goal in Nepal is simple, give local dancers a chance to perform on a global stage.

One of the biggest highlights this year is the addition of Bollywood choreographer Terence Lewis as the celebrity grand judge. Known for shows like Dance India Dance and India’s Best Dancer, his presence is expected to raise the level of the competition.

Joining him on the judging panel are Kiran Thapa from the Wild Ripperz crew and artistic director JD Tamang. Both bring strong experience and international exposure.

According to national director Roshan Gahatraj, the idea is to create a world-class platform in Nepal itself. The show will also highlight Nepali culture and dance styles, not just modern forms.

The U.S. Embassy has also shown support for the event, calling it a strong step in cultural exchange and creative collaboration.

Several well-known names from Nepal’s film and dance industry attended the launch. Dayahang Rai spoke about dance as a powerful way to express identity, while Buddhi Tamang highlighted the link between art and culture. Dancer Kabita Nepali, who is the face of the show, called it a golden chance for hidden talents.

From Nepal to the World: World of Dance Nepal 2026 Officially Announced

The competition will be divided into four categories: junior solo, upper solo, junior team, and upper team. Winners in each category will receive NPR 100,000, a gold-plated trophy, and gift hampers. More importantly, they will get a chance to represent Nepal internationally.

Auditions will be held in five cities, Nepalgunj, Butwal, Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Itahari. Selected dancers will move on to the semi-finals and then the grand finale.

World of Dance Nepal 2026 is more than just a show. It is a step toward putting Nepali dancers on the world map.
