Entertainment Journalist Jayan Subba Manandhar Honored with National Film Journalism Award

Jayan Subba Manandhar, Senior media personality, fashion professional, and entertainment journalist has been honored with the prestigious National Film Journalism Award 2083 for her remarkable contribution to Nepali film journalism, fashion, modeling, and entertainment media.


On the occasion of Film Journalism Day, the Film Journalists Association Nepal (FJAN) honored veteran media personality, fashion professional, and entertainment journalist  with the prestigious National Film Journalism Award 2083. The award recognizes her outstanding and long-standing contribution to Nepali film journalism, fashion, modeling, and entertainment media.

Jayan Subba Manandhar is regarded as one of the most influential female figures in Nepal’s fashion, modeling, and entertainment sectors. Her professional journey began in the world of modeling and fashion writing, where she gradually established herself as a respected journalist and media personality.

Over the years, she contributed fashion and modeling columns to several prominent publications, including Bimochan Monthly, Bihibar Weekly, Apsara Monthly, London Post Monthly, and various other magazines and newspapers. Her dedication to storytelling and industry coverage helped shape public understanding of Nepal’s growing fashion and entertainment landscape.

Driven by her passion for journalism, Manandhar pursued professional media studies at Media Point, where she was a member of the institution’s fifth batch. After completing her studies, she began her journalism career through internships at Deshantar Weekly and Patrika Saat Din, gaining valuable newsroom experience and developing her journalistic skills.

A major turning point in her career came when renowned journalist Bijaya Kumar Pandey entrusted her with managing two dedicated fashion and modeling pages for Nepal Fortnightly under Kantipur Publications. Soon afterward, veteran journalist Kishore Nepal invited her to join Gorkhapatra Daily, where she independently covered fashion, music, and film journalism for nearly nine months.

Her growing influence in entertainment journalism attracted the attention of senior media professionals, including Bharat Shakya, the founding president of the Film Journalists Association Nepal. Encouraged by Shakya, Raman Ghimire, and Pradeep Bhattarai, Manandhar eventually joined the association, becoming the first female film journalist affiliated with the organization, a significant milestone in Nepal’s media history.

Following four successful years at Gorkhapatra Daily, she joined Shukrabar Weekly under Nagarik Publications and later worked with Sampurna Weekly published by Annapurna Publications. As the media industry evolved and print publications declined during the COVID-19 pandemic, she successfully transitioned into digital journalism and continues to remain actively involved in online media.

Beyond journalism, Manandhar has made a remarkable impact on Nepal’s fashion and modeling industry. She serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Ramp Fashion & Modeling Agency, recognized as Nepal’s first professional modeling training institute. Through the agency, she has played a key role in grooming and mentoring numerous successful models, actors, beauty queens, and public personalities.

Her professional expertise extends across multiple fields, including fashion choreography, styling, runway coaching, pageant training, celebrity management, and media consulting. She is also associated with several leading online media platforms, including GlamourNepal, RamroOnline,  FreshnessNepal, and BeautyNewsNepal.

Throughout her distinguished career, Manandhar has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of her contribution to journalism and the entertainment industry. These include the Film Journalism Award and Honor 2070, Sur Padma Honor 2070, Chhayachhabi Women Journalism Award 2075, Rose Ship Development Journalism Women Beauty Honor 2076, Women Film Journalism Honors 2078 and 2079, Music Khabar Rang Journalism Honor 2080, Silver Jubilee Special Journalism Honor 2081, Sahara Mahanari Honor 2081, and now the prestigious National Film Journalism Award 2083.

With decades of dedication, leadership, and creative excellence, Jayan Subba Manandhar continues to inspire aspiring journalists, fashion professionals, and media practitioners.
