NCFT 20th Graduation Fashion Show, 62 Designers Turns Runway into a Story of Nature and Design

NCFT’s 20th Graduation Fashion Show 2026 brought 62 designers to the spotlight, blending nature, culture, and modern fashion in a stunning runway showcase at The Plaza Nepal.

The 20th Graduation Fashion Show of Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT), titled Vividhāyana Saundaryam, unfolded as an extraordinary celebration of creativity, imagination, and artistic expression. Held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at The Plaza Nepal in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, the event transformed the runway into a living canvas where fashion, nature, and storytelling converged. Showcasing the creative journeys of 62 graduating fashion designers, the evening presented six concept-driven collections that collectively reflected the richness of Nepal’s natural landscapes and biodiversity.

The theme Vividhāyana Saundaryam, a celebration of beauty born from diversity, served as the conceptual foundation of the showcase. Drawing inspiration from Nepal’s forests, wetlands, mountains, wildlife, and flora, the designers translated ecological elements into fashion narratives that blended artistry with environmental awareness. The runway featured 62 exclusive designer ensembles accompanied by six distinctive creative masterpieces, each collection reflecting a thoughtful harmony between nature, culture, and contemporary design.

The event commenced with the grand runway appearance of Gyani Shova Tuladhar, Founder Principal of NCFT, who walked alongside promotional models, marking the ceremonial opening of the show. The presentation was choreographed by renowned fashion choreographer Rojin Shakya, whose dynamic staging and visual storytelling elevated the creative vision of the collections. The runway featured 32 models, including professional models and students from NCFT, who brought the designers’ creations to life with elegance and confidence.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of students from the 20th batch worked tirelessly to coordinate the event. Riya Shrestha, Isha Maharjan, Sandhya Niraula, and Saraswati Singh played pivotal roles in organizing and managing the program, ensuring the seamless execution of the evening’s elaborate production.

The evening opened with “NEPALIUM: Where Ice Finds Its Flow,” a collection that explored the evolving relationship between ice and water. Inspired by glaciers and melting streams, the garments transitioned from structured, crystalline silhouettes into fluid, flowing shapes while shades of white, silver, teal, and jade symbolized the natural process of transformation.

Equally captivating was “Iridescent Shells: Armor Softened by Elegance,” a collection inspired by beetles and their protective exoskeletons. The collection featured iridescent hues and bold architectural silhouettes, capturing a delicate balance between strength and elegance.

The narrative deepened with “Aavaran Mrittika: Beneath, Beyond, Becoming,” a collection that journeyed into the hidden layers of soil. The designs evolved from light, surface-inspired textures to deeper and more protective forms, symbolizing memory, pressure, and regeneration within the earth.

Inspired by the grandeur and mystique of the Himalayan landscape, “Aviora: Wings of the Himalaya” embodied themes of aspiration, elevation, and freedom. Airy textiles and wing-like structural elements created a sense of motion, reflecting resilience and the uplifting spirit of the mountains.

In a poignant reflection on environmental responsibility, “Red List Reverie” brought attention to endangered species of Nepal, including the snow leopard, red panda, and gharial. Through earthy tones, structured forms, and striking red accents, the collection highlighted narratives of vulnerability, survival, and conservation.

The showcase concluded with “Vanaspati Kusum: Forest Blooms of Nepal,” a poetic tribute to the country’s floral diversity. Soft pink and green hues paired with delicate fabrics represented flowers such as rose, rhododendron, orchid, lotus, and lily, emphasizing elegance and the poetic beauty of nature.

Together, these six collections illustrated the evolving voice of contemporary Nepali fashion, one that increasingly engages with themes of sustainability, identity, and cultural context. The designers demonstrated that fashion is not merely about garments but about ideas, narratives, and emotional resonance.

Each collection culminated in a signature “masterpiece” design, a standout creation that encapsulated the essence of the designer’s concept and creative journey. As models moved gracefully across the stage, the audience was immersed in a visual narrative where every garment carried its own story. The intricate craftsmanship, imaginative silhouettes, and thoughtful symbolism behind each design left spectators both inspired and mesmerized. Through carefully constructed silhouettes, experimental textures, and symbolic color palettes, the collections demonstrated how fashion can transcend aesthetics and become a powerful medium for storytelling.

A significant highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the fourth edition of the NCFT Fashion Catalog, a publication that documents the creative works of the graduating designers. The catalog was officially launched by Kalyani Mishra Tripathi, Registrar; Sandesh Das Shrestha, Dean of the Faculty of Management; Founder Principal of NCFT Gyani Shova Tuladhar, Miss Nepal Cosmo 2025 Deepsikha Nepal and Miss Nepal International 2025 Urusha Bhandari in the presence of Vice Principal Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha and the event coordinators from the 19th graduating batch of NCFT.

The graduating designers’ creations were evaluated by an esteemed panel of experts including Kul Bahadur Basnet, former Vice Chairperson of Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT); Jaya Laxmi Pradhan, Campus Chief at Padma Kanya Multiple Campus; fashion educator Rajendra Singh; Kiran Prakash Saakha, Chairman of Fair-Trade Group Nepal; Sunil Chitrakar; fashion designers Mukta Shrestha and Manish Rai; and Santosh Upadhyaya, National Director for Miss Supranational and Mr. Nepal 2019.

The graduation showcase forms a core academic component of the Bachelor of Fashion Design and Management (BFDM) program under Purbanchal University, providing students with a professional platform to present their creative research and design innovations.

Ultimately, the 20th Graduation Fashion Show of NCFT stood as a powerful reflection of emerging Nepali creativity. By weaving together natural heritage, cultural identity, and contemporary fashion, Vividhāyana Saundaryam became more than a runway show, it became a celebration of imagination, dedication, and the limitless potential of Nepal’s next generation of fashion designers.
