Dress to Impress: Beautiful Designs and Creativity


From gowns with volume and flow to fitted gowns, from lehengas to cocktail wear and cultural; seventy one various wonderful and beautiful designs and creativity showcased by 71 individual student designers from IIFT Nepal came in action with the runway presentation made by the creators of the dresses by themselves.

The show presented by IIFT Nepal, the fashion designing institute under the name Dress to impress was showcased at Amrapali Banquet, Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

The event was a competition where the dresses presented by the student designers were been judged. The people who judged the creativity explored by the designers were Glamour and commercial photographer Raj Bhai Suwal, Hairstylist and make-up artist Neel David Katuwal, Fashion Designer Bishwo Gautam, Singer/ Actress Bishnu Chemjong and Academic director for IIFT Nepal Raju Suwal.

Among the 71 attires presented, Soni Shrestha scored the victory. Her design was a black colored flow gown with a glamorous neckline. As the reward she earned cash prize of rupees fifteen thousand. Likewise the first runner-up position was bagged by Sweta Shakya. Her dress was a cocktail outfit inspired from Peacock. She was rewarded with cash prize of rupees ten thousand.

The second runner-up position was earned by Saraha Baniya. Her dress was a colorful tie-die lehenga. She earned rupees eight thousand as her reward.

Other than runway performances the event had couple dance performances by IIFTians while singers Prabesh Man Shakya, Lakpa Sherpa and Bishnu Chemjong did entertained through their beautiful musical numbers. The event was been choreographed by Bipana Thapa and was managed by Pacific event and management.
