‘Kalo Pothi’ & ‘Laaz’ to show at Busan International Film Festival


Two Nepali films will be part of the prestigious 20th Busan International Film Festival starting on 1st of October at Busan, South Korea.

kalo pothiMin Bahadur Bham’s ‘Kalo Pothi’ (‘The Black Hen’) will be screened in the ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ category alongside with 51 films from 32 Asian countries. The movie will be premier at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival in September too. The first Nepali film to be chosen for this film festival, the 90-minute long film is set during the civil war in Nepal. The film has been shot in Mugu and stars Khadka Raj Nepali, Sukra Raj Rokaya, and Benisha Hamal among others.

laaz‘Laaz’ (‘The Shame’) , Sushan Prajapati’s short film will be premiering at the ‘Asian Short Film Competition’ with nine other films from eight different countries.
Prajapati is a cinematographer ‘Singha Durbar’ and producer ‘Apabaad’, ‘Saanghuro’ and ‘Karkash’. He is making his debut as a director with ‘Laaz’.
The short film is 20-minute long and is based on Ajit Lamichhane’s story of a kamaiya who has to deal with his new found freedom. Chabilal Choudhary plays the central character in the film.
