Nepali film Kalo Pothi (The Black Hen) has received 1lakh 10 thousand Euro (approx NRs 1 crore 25 lakh) from a French organization. Preliminary editing of the film directed by Min Bahadur Bham is currently underway. After receiving support from Centre National du Cinéma (CNC), Bham is leaving for France for post production works of the movie.
After completing the works, the film will be then sent to different film festivals. The film had applied for the competition of CNC by CD Productions. The company has already produced 24 films. Dozens films across the globe had applied for assistance. The film was shot for 19 days in Mugu and one day in Kathmandu.
Director and writer Bham said the film is based on social pain two kids received during the armed conflict. The film was shot by Kazak cameraman Aziz Jambakiev. Almost all the scenes of the film were taken in one shot. “That’s the reason shooting ended in 20 days,” Bham said, “The film will be around 1.5 hrs long.”
It is not the first time the film received support from European organizations. The film had received 50 thousand Frank (approx Rs 55 lakh) from ‘Visions Sud’ of Switzerland and 30 thousand Euros (approx Rs 34 lakh) from the Berlin Film Festival.
Director Bham said that Rs 2 crore 14 lakh have been collected till now and the final budget of the movie will be NRs 2 crore 85 lakh.
